Leader: Wedding bells – again
Britain's love of a wedding will be requited once again with the nuptials of Ed Miliband and Justine Thornton
By Staff blogger Published 26 May 2011Only a month has passed since trees lined the aisles of Westminster Abbey, but Britain's love of a wedding will be requited once again with the nuptials of the Labour leader, Ed Miliband, and his long-time partner, Justine Thornton, on 27 May. There will be no horse-drawn carriages
or balcony waving. There won't even be trumpets. The couple will be married quietly at a hotel near Nottingham with 50 guests present. Mr Miliband has declared that his marriage is not a political event, in either guest list or symbolism: "Marriage is a good institution - it is right for me and Justine - but the thing that really matters to people is stable families and they come in different forms." Quite so. We wish the couple much happiness.
