Thirteen years on from its conception, Google is still king of the internet and in the past year has extended its reach. With approximately three billion searches being made on the site every day, Google dominates the digital market and has expanded its product range to include a web browser, an email service and its own social networking site, Google+. Though Eric Schmidt stepped down as chief executive this year, he remains executive chairman and adviser to the founders, Page and Brin. And the Google guys show no sign of slowing down. In May 2011, unique visitors of Google surpassed the one billion mark for the first time, an 8.4 per cent increase on last year.
