Lenovo has introduced its 'Skylight' smartbook at the International Consumer Electronics Show at Las Vegas this week.

The smartbook is a web-enabled device that merges a smartphone with a netbook. Priced at $499, it will be available in Europe from April onwards.

Lenovo says the smartbook, with a weight of less than two pounds, is thinner than many smartphones. Available in red and blue models, it has a 10-inch screen compatible with high-definition (HD) videos. It has built-in Wi-Fi and 3G connectivity for faster internet access and real-time video.

The device carries a 10-hour backup. It comes with 18 preloaded web gadgets to help users listen to music and download digital movies.
