Announcement: New Statesman now available for iPad and iPhone

The New Statesman is available as a bespoke second-generation app for iPad, iPhone and iPod users, which comes with a free 180-page anniversary issue.

By New Statesman

The New Statesman has today (Thursday 17 October) launched a second-generation app, giving readers the ability to access all magazine content on Apple mobile devices in a beautifully designed and user-friendly digital format.

The all-new app is launched with just a week to go until Russell Brand’s eagerly awaited guest edit of the New Statesman appears on 24 October. The Brand special issue will be the second paid issue available on the app.

Jason Cowley, editor of the New Statesman, said: “The New Statesman is no longer published only on paper. We have a vibrant and ever-growing website. We have many Kindle subscribers. And, now, wherever you are in the world, you can read the very best political and cultural writing at the tap of an iPad or iPhone.”

Features on the New Statesman app include: email and Twitter sharing facility for each article; all content viewable in both portrait and landscape on iPad; facility to store back issues; day/night mode; a comprehensive search facility; a co-ordinated table of contents available throughout; ability to play audio files, including poetry readings; and three text sizes. The app will be available for Android phones in 2014.
