South Africa: rural population

At present, there are over 19 million people living in rural areas of South Africa. The graph above illustrates the trend in numbers of rural inhabitants between 1960 and 2010. As it shows, the rural population was at its lowest (9,289,464 inhabitants) in 1960 and climbed to its highest (19,216,552) in 2004.
