No consideration at all

I live in Hoole, Cheshire, and normally keep one car on the drive and one on the road outside. Recently, car owners from surrounding roads which have little parking space have taken to leaving their cars outside our house.

On returning the other evening, I found a persistently offending car parked outside our house. I decided to call on the owner to ask for a little consideration. He told me it was a public road and shut the door. He's technically correct, but if he parks outside our house, I have to park outside someone else's and they have to park outside someone else's, and so on.

I decided to post a polite note through his letter box asking him to show some consideration for the people who have houses in the road.

Within 20 minutes, two police officers arrived. To say I was shocked would be an understatement.

Put a sock in it

Decorators sprucing up Blackpool seafront came under fire after they ignored a sock - and painted over it. The contractors came across the footwear tied to railings, but didn't bother removing it.
