Not fashionable

A judge has lifted a curfew on a drug dealer because his electronic tag looked unfashionable when he was wearing shorts.

Aaron Morgan, 22, from Chudleigh, Devon, was given a nine-month suspended sentence and put under curfew for six months by Exeter Crown Court in January. He was let off the last two months when the judge was told this week that he had secured a job selling surf boards. The work meant he had to wear shorts while on sales trips and this left his tag visible.

The judge said: "Wearing an electronic tag is not a fashion item when it comes to working in shorts and trying to sell windsurfing equipment."

Dangerous driving

Road safety officials who studied motorists for a month were stunned to find that many were eating breakfast while behind the wheel.

They also found drivers sipping hot drinks or reading, and even spotted one man playing the harmonica.
