Marching Orders

While his 90-acre portfolio of prime London real estate may have taken a hit as a result of the credit crisis, Earl Cadogan is still master of all that he surveys - and woe betide any resident who gets on the wrong side of him.

Waiting for the light

Kent Police insisted they must wait until sunrise before tackling late-night revellers because of health and safety issues.

A Sevenoaks resident, Clive Evans, 66, said: "How can fully trained officers be worried about forcing a bunch of hippies and druggies to go home? What sort of thing did they expect to do when they signed up for the police?"

Daily Mail (Ron Rubin)
