A dog's life
The North Shropshire Hunt has been told of a local law which requires that all dogs on public roads must be kept on leads.
After it emerged at Shrewsbury and Atcham Borough Council's full meeting last month that their dogs were not exempt, the Masters of Foxhounds Association's lawyers are trying to get the decision reversed.
In a letter to hunt bosses, the council pointed out huntsmen would have to dismount and tether their hounds every time pursuit of a fox's scent leads them across public roads, verges and footpaths.
A member of the hunt said: "This is a chippy Labour council which has always had it in for us."

A matter of taste
Simon Allison, a senior food technologist for M&S, insists he relishes the task and has trained his palate to detect the delicacies preferred by dogs and cats.
He said: "You have to chew it a bit. I'm looking for a pâté texture, almost to the point where you could spread it on crusty bread."
