Nowt up with his letter box

Paul O'Brien, 44, a self-employed engineer from Leeds, said: "I just cannot believe someone who came on to my property uninvited, to put junk mail through my door that I didn't want, can now sue me because they hurt themselves."

He added: "There is nothing wrong with the letter box. It's just like every other on this estate."

A law expert said householders had limited duties of care to people who went on to their property, such as postmen. These were not likely to extend to a letter box, provided it was a standard model.

Less keen on romance

Over the years I've become less keen. My husband, who when he's not snoring, reading DIY catalogues or talking about Tottenham can be extremely romantic, thinks Valentine's Day is utterly meaningless and I've come round to his way of thinking.

Who's to say that one should wake up on 14 February feeling overwhelmed with desire for one's partner?
