Scorching performance

Marlowe’s Edward II was held in the Great Hall, with seating either side. The action took place in and around the audience, as well as the minstrels gallery. Although no scenery and very few props, this never detracted from a powerful performance with the tensions of the nobles against the king building to the climax and overthrow of Edward.

The inevitable brutal murder scene complete with “glowing” red hot poker from the Great Hall’s fire was graphic but not indulgent.

A new toilet block has been built at the Barnoldswick’s Letcliffe Park but the old one is still standing. This is because demolishing it could cost the council up to £2,000. Putting it up for sale on eBay could be one way of solving the problem.

“The building has some wonderful glazed brick work

with a white finish – someone out there is going to want this,” said Councillor David Whipp.
