Spend, spend, spend

With consumer debt topping £1.25 trillion, the Personal Finance Education Group charity was asked to find teens' views on spending and saving.

Asked why someone might have an overdraft, 26 per cent said it was so they need not fear overspending every month.

A further 23 per cent said it would let them spend more than they earned. And one in 20 18-year-olds think they do not have to repay credit at all.

PFEG chief executive Wendy van den Hende said: "We are pleased the young are relatively clued up on spending and saving, but alarmed they appear to be drifting towards a life of debt."

Dragon's meat

A spicy sausage known as the Welsh Dragon will have to be renamed after trading standards officers warned manufacturers that they could face prosecution because it does not contain dragon.

The sausages will now have to be labelled Welsh Dragon Pork Sausages to avoid confusion.
