600,000 more tune in to Radio 4's Today

92 per cent of British adults listen to the radio every week, according to survey.

The Today Programme reached some 7,026,000 listeners a week in the first three months of this year, up 600,000 year on year.

Survey results released by Rajar today revealed that the popularity of Today helped Radio 4 to its biggest ever audience under the current methodology - estimated at 10.83 million weekly listeners (up from 10.03m in the same period last year).

BBC Radio 5 Live was also up year on year with 6.65m listeners (compared with 6.48m in the same period last year).
