The above photograph, by Susan Meiselas, is taken from Magnum Revolution: 65 Years of Fighting for Freedom by Jon Lee Anderson and Paul Watson (Prestel [1], £35). Meiselas, who is American, joined the Magnum Photos agency in 1976 and has worked as a freelance photographer ever since.
This book celebrates the documenting of global revolutions by Magnum photographers, from the anti-Soviet uprising in Hungary in 1956 to the mass demonstrations of the Arab spring.
