The year 2010 is the deadliest one for Pakistani journalists, according to the South Asia Media Commission (SAMC) yearly report.
SAMC launched the report titled "South Asia Media Monitor 2010 jointly with Media Commission Pakistan (MCP) at a press conference on Tuesday.
According to the report, Pakistan was the most dangerous country in the world for journalists in 2010.
While 13 Pakistani journalists were killed during the year, three and two each were killed respectively in Nepal, Afghanistan and India.
The report stated that half of the Pakistani journalists were killed as direct result of terrorist attacks on public gatherings. Many journalists were also kidnapped by militants and security forces in the tribal areas.
Senior Pakistani journalists, who attended the press conference, said that the media has got sandwiched between state and non-state actors and is threatened by both sides.
They suggested having an independent body to investigate the killings of working journalists.
