John Pentin, regional advertising director of Newsweek since 2005, has been promoted to the role of international advertising director.
Pentin will oversee Newsweek's regional sales and marketing operations in Europe and Asia and will report to global publisher Rhona Murphy.
Confirming the appointment, Murphy said Pentin had proven himself to be an effective and enthusiastic leader through both good and challenging times, always keenly supporting his team members and the Newsweek brand.
"John has deep relationships in the industry and a wide knowledge of pan-regional business," Murphy added.
Pentin had been managing the German, Africa, Eastern Europe and Middle East regions for Newsweek since 2005. He had also previously served as UK sales director.
He joined the London office of Newsweek as a sales executive in 1991. He was previously employed with the Sunday Times and Redwood Publishing.
