The BBC has revamped its news website to include social networking tools, editor Steve Hermann said in a BBC blog post on Tuesday.
After its biggest overhaul since 2003, the BBC News site now enables readers to share stories with friends across social networks such as Facebook and Twitter. It also features a bigger video player which reportedly streams better-quality video.
The site has also changed the left-hand navigation to drop-down menus at the top, leaving space for the top three stories with sub-linked related content.
Under the new format, recently published stories will appear under the "New" section on the homepage.
Meanwhile, the corporation has announced it is rolling out "BBC Fabric", a desktop-based digital production tool that allows content to be accessed, edited and shared remotely across the BBC's websites.
