HIV Prevention Trials Network (HPTN) in engaged in providing a range of clinical research services. It operates as a worldwide collaborative clinical trials network. HPTN is principally involved in developing and testing the efficacy and safety of non-vaccine interventions designed for the prevention of HIV transmission. Currently, it is working on four research areas including, STD control, antiretroviral therapies, behavioral interventions, and substance use. HPTN incorporates a global network of investigators from Clinical Trials Units (CTUs), Coordinating and Operations Center (CORE), Network Lab, and Statistical and Data Management Center (SDMC). It works in close association with National Institutes of Health (NIH), National Institute on Drug Abuse, National Institute of Mental Health, and the John E. Fogarty International Center. HPTN carries out research programs in multiple sites across the Africa, Asia, and North and South America regions. It is headquartered in Bethesda, Maryland, the US.
