Natural Resource Partners L.P. (NRP) is a limited partnership which owns and manages coal properties in US. The company through its subsidiaries are also involved in coal handling and transportation infrastructure management in Appalachia, the Illinois Basin and the Powder River Basin. It also owns and manages aggregate reserves in West Virginia and Washington in addition to owning and managing oil properties in Kentucky, Virginia and Tennessee. It however does not involve in any mining activities but leases its coal reserves to mine operators under long-term leases that grant the operators the right to mine the company`s coal reserves in exchange for royalty payments. The company is headquartered in Houstan in Texas, the US.The company reported revenues of (U.S. Dollars) USD 291.67 million during the fiscal year ended December 2008, an increase of 35.67% over 2007. The operating profit of the company was USD 197.01 million during the fiscal year 2008, an increase of 53.55% over 2007. The net profit of the company was USD 170.01 million during the fiscal year 2008, an increase of 65.86% over 2007.
