BBC Radio 5 Live was the big audience winner in the last quarter of 2010 according to figures published today by Radio Joint Research Ltd.
According to Rajar, which uses a survey to estimate the weekly audience reach of UK radio stations, 5 Live reached 7.1m listeners in the last quarter of the year - up from 6.1m in the same period last year.
The BBC said the stations was boosted by a strong performance from 5 Breakfast with Nicky Campbell and Shelagh Fogarty, which rose 600,000 year on year to 3.17m listeners.
BBC Radio 4 was also up year on year with 10.3 million listeners a week, compared with 9.8m a week in the same period last last year. Flagship current affairs programme Today was also up with 6.63 million listeners a week, up from from 6.1m in the same period last year.
