He is a liar and cannot be trusted to act in the interest of the people. He will always work for the Americans.

He has the political knowledge of the bigger picture regarding New World Order politics, the proper credentials and will be a major asset for Britain.

Absolutely not! He has never shown the slightest enthusiasm for Europe, he is a liar and a fraud, and he is a war criminal.

Furthermore I don't think it should go to a British politician when Britain would love to be the 51st State of America, behaves like a poodle to the Americans, goes to war with them whenever summoned, and tries to block whatever the EU tries to achieve .Britain is not even in the Euro zone for Goodness sake! If there was a Referendum tomorrow about Europe, Britain would be out of Europe with a big majority.
So I don't understand how Tony Blair, the lackey to the Americans could even be considered. If it was to bring Britain into Europe, they could at least choose an openly pro-European politician!

That would be a joke!

His speciality is the use of spin doctors and propaganda, he is not a honest person, and especially his lies about alleged evidence for "weapons of mass destruction" in Iraq are well-known.

His performance as a Middle East negotiator has been dire. In any case, his attack on Iraq was illegal and based on a pack of lies in the infamous WMD dossier

Hasn't he done enough damage to Britain and the world already?

I think he has what it takes to be president of EU and is familiar with EU and world politics.

He has everything it takes to be President of EU and has knowledge and experience of EU and world politics. He deserves it.

Tony Blair is a war criminal and should be tried as such. Besides, in the role of EU President he'll just be an American puppet (not that he wasn't all along), as he is as Middle East Envoy.

Frankly, it would be an insult to the intelligence of anyone, anywhere to promote the wee nyaff to such a position.

Dear Father Christmas,

What I want for Christmas is for Tony Blair to be made President of the EU.

Of course not. He's a cold-blooded war crimial. If anything, he should be sent to the international criminal court in Hague and tried for war crimes and crimes against humanity.

A real shame onto the proud British people.

He represents all that is bad about the majority of world leaders today: arrogant, militaristic, grey-suited, men. Bring on Mary Robinson.

No way. Where is this world getting to? how can such a question even be contemplated? He needs to be tried before the International Court of Justice for war crimes in Iraq.

It would be obsecene for Mr Blair to be given such a post inlight of his reckless waste of fellow countrymen's lives in the Middle East.

The vote tally says it all with 72% NO but this is more the reason for the Bilderberg, CFR, TC and the rest of the fascist clique of the world to put him in that job, after all they run the world, same as giving Obama the Nobel "War Prize" with only 11-days in office, as we proceed along the situation in the world becomes progressively worse until the nuclear missiles start flying. And flying they will, the only thing is when, 2010. 2012, 2015.

Absolutely not!! This man has lowered the morals of this nation. Mr Blair and his wife are out to fleece the world, mind you they are good at it.
History will be worth reading in 50 years time.

He is more of a world statesman, and probably more honest than the rest of our remaining British,"fiddling" political class On reflection, perhaps we could ask Ms. J.Smith to try her hand - she'd waste no time in getting her nose in the trough, her excesses may even spark the EU to clean up its'act too!

There is only one reason why it might be a good thing: to discomfort the Tories if they should get in. But even that is not quite a strong enough a reason to give that man more power to misuse.

Warmonger, liar and suck-up artist to the rich and powerful. The post of President of the EU will forever be tainted by the whiff of corruption and sulphur if this integrity-free zone wins. Not that I think the new role is a good idea anyway ...

He's a war criminal who has no place on the international stage. He lied to the British People so how can he be trusted as EU president.

Apart from the obvious problem of his being an alleged war criminal, what image would Blair manifest for an already struggling EU. He is unpoular within the EU; he is unpopular in the wider world. He might 'stop the traffic' but why should the EU carry his burden?

SarahC

Of course he should. His international standing and abilities are outstanding. We should be delighted that the first European President is likely to be a former Labour Prime Minister. What is wrong with you all?

As someone who renounced his british citizenship and became a european as a reaction to his illegal and immoral Iraq war, I certainly don't want this war criminal in any position of authority over me.
