No for all the reasons that Medhi Hasan list so eloquently in his article ( and Pilger a few months ago).
When he tells Israel to give up their Nuclear weapons and stop threatening Iran who hasn't got them yet ,and oh! when he decides to seriously dismantle America's own nuclear capability, then I might start changing my mind. A charming man, same politics. No surprise there. The system would never have allowed a black man to undo what America is about. It was a very clever coup to install him in the White house. - Luddite.

This is a parody of all that the Peace Prize has stood for. To give the Peace Prize to the President of a country at war is an absolute travesty.

Obama is cinisk person. The Nobel Price is because he put the jewish hat on his head? or for what?. He continues the war that Israel wants with their people in USA. England gives drogs to the people for destroying them for exemple Afghanistan
Thank You

The last comment that I read was that Henry Kissinger received the same worthless bauble. I was reading on another site that there is a considerable purse that goes with the prize. Is this true?

Looking at the list of past recipients of the peace prize, Obama is head and shoulders above most of them in terms of leading the World back to civilised behavior after the orgy of fascism led by Bush and Blair. We now have some hope instead of black despair.

At this point, His cabinet was not even fully in place. Roughly ten days into his administration. The award is a bad joke.

The awarding of the Nobel Peace Prize to President Obama was premature. Although the president has been given ipointers of his good intentions to enhance world peace, the awarding tem should have waited for the rhetoric to be translated into real deeds.

How can someone who is waging war in Iraq, Pakistan, Afghanistan and whos government members have threatened to obliterate Iran be awarded a peace prize ? It is nothing new tho, who after Kissinger (essentially a mass murderer) can take this prize seriously.

When he was nominated for this (and exactly who nominated him I wonder?) he'd barely found where the WCs were in the White House. Was it just a coincidence that his prize was announced the same day that the Americans bombed the moon?

The issue is whether the immutable values of profit and imperialism that lie at the heart of the U.S. political system can be challenged and overridden by one person. If they can and that person is Barack Obama then he will deserve the prize and much more.

I said years ago that we should get rid of all nuclear weapons. I didn't get a prize.
