How can we charge ourselves interest? I suppose it will be taken from us in other ways. Does that mean we can give ourselves multimillion pound payrises too?

what about a licence fee £10 p.a. it gives one the proper feel of a nationalised utility. The red braces & pin stripe boys will get used to stamping a little book for the public.

The question is daft. The banks have had long lines of credit months and months ago. Now the UK government has forked out $64 billion so the nonexistant banks can lend debt money that we will pay interest on and then we pay more interest on OUR money which the banks has just been given to them, so they can lend to us.
And this is why the QUESTION is daft......bank charges are a side issue. If the British, American and European people just sat down for a FEW MINUTES and thought this through, they be marching on the City and Wall St and burn down their temples.
The latest round of bailout boggie has cost us over $2 trillion, but all in all, its around $5 trillion and counting.......
......bank charges.LOL
Come on people, get SERIOUS, for just a few minutes.LOL

The tables have turned. The banks need our investment. So hopefully i will be treated like a valuable customer with doorman holding the door open and so on.

Drop charges? No, I think the former bankers should be charged with grand larceny and sentenced to death.

The only way to keep that money here at home is to spend it on prostitutes and beer, since these are the only products still produced in US. I've been doing my part.

Our current problems have been caused by irresponsible, greedy bankers and borrowers, who have equally been greedy and irresponsible - do we want the situation to get worse?

Of course they should but with the usual suspects still in charge there is as much chance of that happening as me winning the lottery, which I do not do.

Yes, one good and egalitarian way to cut down on bankers' greed and irresponsiblity.

If a bank boss can still get a pension of £500,000 a year, after wrecking his bank, why should we pay bank charges?

Shouldn't they pay us better interest on current accounts for our lending them money

Bankers work hard and deserve the money they get.
