A coalition of UK broadcasters and the NUJ has won a judicial review at the Court of Appeal overturning a decision forcing them to hand over unbroadcast footage from last October's Dale Farm evictions to Essex Police.
ITN, the BBC, Sky, Hardcash Productions and the NUJ launched their appeal following the decision by Chelmsford Crown Court to grant the production order earlier this year.
The court’s decision was overturned in a judgment handed down by Mr Justice Eady and Lord Justice Moses at the Royal Courts of Justice this morning.

Quote of the Day - Regarding Gareth Williams, “The world was ours for the taking.”. There's a rumour going around that Gareth may of had some sort of a last covert mission with 'Dolly the Sheep', prior to his demise, but it hasn't been fully substantiated! Apparently Alex Chapman didn't know about this covert relationship, but he may have Saw(ers) alot! Ronan Summers definitely didn't have anything to do with it, even though he loves to drink Tenets! We all love Wiltshire (Porton Down) more than Gloucestershire (GCHQ), even more so then Worcestershire (RSRE). Military Radiations Signals Intelligence always use to do 'his head in', especially when using ELF or VLF frequencies, impacting directly on the 'Neural Oscillations' of the Central Nervous System. But taking a 'Nano-Medicine' Paracetamol takes the head to a new level of game play, I'll assure you of that! Nothing to do with BCI, RNM, Synthetic Telepathy ... that would REALLY BE MAD!!! An odd thought shared ... the illegal "watching over" in our individual 'castles' of this beloved Britannia, while entertaining Babar Pappa.
Now, that's how ethnic cleansing should be done. Video tapes could be used as a visual manual - no, not everybody can read!
Stupid Boy
Recent developements suggest that the police,Crown Prosecution Service, and a presiding judge all are in favour of dropping charges in 24 cases of obstruction of Bailiffs since these are not in the public interest but that Basildon Council want to persue the same individuals through the civil courts. Could this possibly be true -because Councillor Tony Ball insisted at the time that overwhelming force was required because they had intelligence of serious violence was being planned ? (Source Aljazeera)
Gavin Millar,QC,appealed to the Human Rights act to help squash this attempt to trawl through unpublished footage with the result that the position of the media in relation to the police is strengthened considerably.Even the ACPO information officer,Ch/Constable Trotter who was engaged in brief discussion on bbc/radio 4 news beforehand must go back now and tell his seniors that they will have to present more evidence in the future,The Essex force according to the judges lacked evidence of wrong doing"the cupboard was bare".
The website to consult is Essex Police.uk.May I recommend three items a)the FAQs,b)A letter to an unnamed regional news editor from the Chief Constable and c)the information document on Operation Cabinet published after the event.
Look for glaring incon sistancies.
