Missouri priest's homophobic speech has a surprisingly heartwarming twist
Saying more than that would give the game away...

This video, brought to our attention by our legal correspondent David Allen Green, just shows that sometimes, it's really important to watch the whole thing before jumping to conclusions:

I would have loved to have followed the heartwarming twist in the speech but unfortunately and all too often I am unable to understand it cos I am Deaf and there are no subtitles to the video. Is it really so hard to provide subtitles?

...unless you were being ironically ironic, in which case it amazes me how ironically ironically moronic I am...
@Pavlova: it always astounds me how ironically moronic people can be, but here you are anyway...
Ironic.

it may be a debating trick, and transparently so, but remember these are Americans we are looking at. they appear to love shiny things, empty promises, reality deniers, and those 'gotcha' moments. i think they call them zingers? irony no doubt over their heads that KFC also serve up zingers, similarly made of indigestible matter.
but the centre of the argument remains intact i think; those who resort to using the Bible as the blue print for today's society are destined to fail. this holds for any side of any argument. it is a dumb blunt tool when used so literally. i do admire this man for daring to stand up and be counted in such a religious country.
@ JAKASS
I have it on good authority, when Muhammad died he was taken to Hell and since then he is continually getting F***ed by Satan and Demons. Furthermore, similar fait awaits all his followers.
then i suggest you'd better butter up that starfish or he's coming in dry.
@ JAKASS
Are you talking about yourself or your evil Muhammad? Either way I am not surprised.
gosh, what a cutting repost Did. do wake me up when you're not such a total and utter inept loser, there's a good boy.
@ JAKASS
You are ungrateful and worthless immigrant. Go back to the gutters and take your two little rats with you.
look matey, if you're going to insult someone about being foreign don't you think you should at least proof read your handiwork??
"You are ungrateful and worthless immigrant."
not very effective now is it? unless your aim is to look like a useless tw4t.
@ JAKASS
I could not care less about what you say. I am an immigrant myself but unlike you I am not ungrateful and worthless. You are as ungrateful as Muhammad was to the people of Yathrib. Now go back to the gutters.
German?
they don't like it up 'em!
No, it is not important where I come from. I am a human being and I am against Islam. My argument has nothing to do with race.
your 'argument' has had nothing to do with this article either Did. so far you've just managed to make yourself look like a bit of an 4rse. actually, a total 4arse.
but don't let me get in the way of your infantile rants against Islam. go on, give it your best shot. no doubt you'll change hearts and minds with your contributions...
btw is your username some sort of desperate homosexual overture or what?
@ JAKASS
You mistake intent. You are too primitive. Go back to the gutters.
so you didn't mean to imply you wished to have 'done' me in the Biblical sense? ok then, by all means explain your username, and don't worry, be as sophisticated as you are able. i'll figure it out somehow.
@ JAKASS
Since you are gullible let me make things clear. You are garbage. Nothing is more rewarding in life than trashing Muhammad and his followers. I care about religions as much as I care about a garbage like you. The only thing I would do to you is to throw you back to the sewer. Do not come back to me unless you want more trashing.
ok, so you don't know why you decided to call yourself DIDJANKAAS. that is a whole new level of idiot. well done you!
@ JAKASS
Your replies shows the limit of your mental capacity.
so your inability to explain yourself is my problem? keep digging....
@JAKASS
Sine you are gullible, I will provide further details. Your thoughts about DID are wrong, but that is because you can only think of filthy thing. DID means trashing you. Are you satisfied now or you need more trashing?
nope, i am now fully satisfied you are one deluded puppy. thanks!
@JAKASS
It is not my job to satisfy you. if you want to be DONE you can find someone of your kind. I do not do the inhabitants of sewers.
so now you did not do me. do make up your mind, what there is of it.
@JAKASS
Just like the demon guided Muhammad, you are an insult to human dignity.
Go the sewer and find someone who can speak your language.
in english pls?
Not German....Mmmmm...South African?
@ MCMAC
If you mention your date of birth to your mum, she might be able to tell who I am and that should be the answer to your itching problem.
It's always sad to see a man so ashamed of his nationality he's not even willing to admit it to strangers in the Internet.
Australian?
@ MCMAC
I have nothing to be ashamed of. This not a social club is it? And what use could you make of my nationality? In any case if your mum is not telling you about me, then she must be ashamed of how you came about.
just curious here Did, how on earth do you know McMac's mother? or is this just another example of your hard hitting, no-nonsense wit?
@ JAKASS
You are truly primative. I have no more time for here.
good boy.
ashamed? then it must be Belgium.
Yeah but the difference is that God doesn't have a firm opinion on racial segregation, but he really does on the persecution and eradication of homosexuality.
How important...you actually speak for God?
Well who am I to question the word of the prophet Pavlova
Go for it...lead us back into the dark ages.
You truly are the shepherd and we 'plebs' sheeple.
Back to reality...
The bible is a nasty fairy tale...
Not ironically to be taken as 'gospel'...ho ho!
God's like that. He hates poofs.
Rowan Atkinson as a Vicar in Not The 9 O'Clock News sketch circa 1979
.
So he's saying because some people abused the bible to support racial segregation, we can never look to the bible to answer moral questions???
Weak argument.
No, he's saying that there is historical precedent for people abusing the Bible to support their hateful views, and that we should be careful not to let them try to do it again now.
Pretty good point in my books.
I think that's pretty much what I said. if anyone points to the bible we can say, people used the bible to support segregation, you're using the bible to support something, it must be as wrong as segregation.
He's pulled off a debating trick, but it is just a trick and doesn't really move the debate forward.
It's a trick that people who already agree with him will think is really cool, but 'making idiots' of people isn't a way to change opinions.
I think you're contextualising your view without an appreciation of how the civil rights movement progressed in America. This was a particularly powerful use of ("the trick" as you put it) analogy, and I'm sure he will have shamed some Christians in the US, and at least provoking them into comparing the thinking. For a Christian pastor in America, no less Louisianna! to come out and say this is incredibly important.
