Are you being served? The future of public service television
FREE SUPPLEMENT

On 21 April, Ofcom published a report on Phase 1 of its first statutory review of public service television. On 22 April, the New Statesman hosted a roundtable discussion of this consultation document with senior figures in television, including the BBC, ITV and Channel 4. Channel 5 and BSkyB were invited to participate, but were unable to send a representative. The consultation on Phase 1 ends on 15 June, and the responses will shape what Ofcom recommends to government and parliament. Phase 2, in which the propositions discussed here will have hardened into firm proposals, will be published in the autumn, when the NS hopes to hold another roundtable on the issues raised.
