A round-table discussion

On 11 September the Smith Institute convened a round-table discussion on Britain’s heritage to consider how cultural value is and should be allocated, how to engage the public, and how to increase funding from both the public and private sectors, including encouraging personal donations.

This round-table discussion was organised with the generous support of English Heritage, the Heritage Lottery Fund, the Historic Houses Association, The Art Fund and the National Trust. The views expressed within this publication are those of the participants and not the views of the Smith Institute. The Smith Institute is an independent think tank which has been set up to undertake research and education in issues that flow from the changing relationship between social values and economic imperatives. In recent years the institute has centred its work on the policy implications arising from the interactions of equality, enterprise and equity.
