Climate change

Environment

We will be discussing two of today's most important environmental issues:

Carbon reduction - we are constantly reminded of the need to reduce our carbon footprint, but is this always the most effective way of tackling climate change and what are its limitations?

Clean water - a commodity that we often take for granted. But what are the real costs of clean water?

Education & Skills

Education & Skills

Education is going through a period of profound change. A greater focus on vocational courses, creativity and courses tailored to individual students are revolutionising the way we view schools, the curriculum and skills.

We will be tackling a range of issues to discuss what we want pupils to gain from their education and which policies could help achieve these goals.

Digital Equality

Digital Equality

Digital technologies have transformed our lives. From shopping, to voting, to social networking to education; it seems that almost every aspect of our lives can be transformed - for better or for worse. But what about those excluded from these changes? Should we all have the right to access these technologies?

We will be asking what can be done to connect the disconnected and does digital equality matter?

Community Fringe

Community

The role of the police is constantly evolving to fit the needs of modern society. With an ever increasing focus on how stronger communities can help tackle a range of issues including crime, the police are now expected to join forces with local communities. They are now becoming ever more focused on areas that were previously the sole realm of community and social groups.

We will explore how the police hope to become an integral part of the communities they serve and whether they can, or should, be taking on this challenge.
