RSS Feeds
RSS (Rich Site Summary) is a file format that allows web publishers to create 'feeds' of news based on website content. The New Statesman publishes a selection of RSS feeds for its indexes. The feeds contain article headlines, a short article summary, and a link to the article on the New Statesman website itself.
RSS feeds can be subscribed to using software known as a feed reader or news aggregator. Once a feed has been subscribed to, it will automatically update the moment new content is available on the New Statesman website. Popular feed readers include: Feedreader (PC), Feeddemon (PC), NetNewsWire (Mac).
How to subscribe to RSS feeds
Each aggregator will have a slightly different procedure for adding RSS feeds, though all are fairly similar. To subscribe to a New Statesman feed:
- Right click on the feed of your choice below.
- Select "Copy Shortcut" or "Copy Link Location" (depending on your browser).
- Open your news aggregator, and click "subscribe".
- Paste the feed address in.
Many browsers now have RSS readers built in too. They will typically just display the feed in a browser window, and some may allow you to subscribe within the browser itself.
