Not a Eurosceptic

I read Baroness Ludford's letter "Owen and the anti-Europeans" (15 January) with bemusement. She accused me of expressing "virulent anti-European views, which included terms like 'Mickey Mouse' and 'tinpot' " in a Radio 4 broadcast.

I did not use the terms "Mickey Mouse" and "tinpot". I am strongly in favour of EU membership - not least for all the benefits membership provides business. But I am opposed to Britain's membership of the euro while the economies of the UK and Euroland are so divergent.
