Letters - The real murderers

If Noam Chomsky ("One man's world", 17 November) is as distinguished an expert in Colombian history as he considers himself to be, he might also explain who murders the priests, academics and human rights and union activists. It is not the "repressive" US-backed regime of Alvaro Uribe that commits the homicides but the Marxist guerrillas of Farc. Chomsky should refrain from using his leftist cookie cutter - depicting every situation as a struggle between legitimate freedom fighters on the left and an oppressive government on the right - when writing about countries of which he knows nothing.
