False prophets

Charlie Whelan says that Henry McLeish is not "on the rack" over "Officegate" (5 November). Inexplicably McLeish has now resigned. Clearly, troubled Labour politicians would do well to beware of your columnist's support, much as Conservative ministers used to quake at the merest whisper of John Major's full backing.

How reassuring to know that your journalists (Charlie Whelan, 5 November; Tom Brown, 12 November) are just making it up, like everybody else.
