Less talk, more music, please

John Kampfner ("Is Terry Wogan the new icon of global protest?", 20 August) is seemingly offended more by the chat on Radio 1 than by the music.

He should try listening to one of the "quality" music channels. He will be treated to a wealth of unfunny jokes - endlessly repeated - inane comment, plugs for future programmes and lengthy, irrelevant comment on the composers and performers. And, in between, perhaps some decent music.

Oh for the days of the Third Programme, with its announcers who knew their place.
