The wrong labels

Charles Glass (Media, 7 June) mentions me as "the Orangeman managing editor" of the old Observer. I was deputy, not managing editor - no one was less "managing", as I spent most of my time writing. Also the idea of me as an Orangeman is ludicrous to anybody who has known me. I wonder whether Glass routinely refers to Jewish colleagues as "Yids" - an equally offensive piece of ethnic stereotyping.
