New Media Awards 2008

Media Standards Trust

Nominated in Innovation category.

Journalisted.com helps you answer the question: 'How do I know this
journalist knows what they're talking about?' The site provides a page
about every journalist published on any UK national newspaper website, the
BBC or Sky - with the articles they have written (updated real time),
summary information about what they write about, and links to biographical
information. It even lets you 'build your own newspaper' of your favourite
journalists.

  • With the overwhelming accumulation of information on the internet it is

becoming increasingly hard to work out who you should trust and why. As a

society we need online tools that help people to navigate the forest of

information, and then to assess what they find. This is what journalisted

does for news. It enables people to assess the credibility of journalists

and provides context for what they write about. At the same time it makes

published writers more accountable to their readers, and gives people the

ability to build their own roster of writers they know and trust.

In the same way that if you want to know more about a book you now look it

up on Amazon. Or, if you want to know more about an MP you look him/her up

on TheyWorkForYou. So, if you want to know more about a journalist you'll

look them up on journalisted. Oh, and it's free, entirely independent and

    not-for-profit.
