Cllr Andrew Burns

Nominated in Elected representative award category.

Local elected Labour councillor. Was former cabinet member in City of Edinburgh Council until last election. Looks like Mr. Burns in the Simpsons.

  • He seems to be one of the few councillors (indeed any politican no matter what level) who have embraced blogging, podcasting and videocasting and doesn't just keep it to politics. He really "gets it" which is unusual for a councillor/politician (in my opinion). As an Edinburgh politician hater, it is quite strange for me to making this nomination.

  • The blog is not bad at all. Don't know if it is the best though.

  • I live in Edinburgh; and Andrew Burns is one of those rare politicians who - even when you totally disagree with his policy stance - it\'s hard not to respect his passion and commitment. I think that comes across very strongly in his excellent blog, which is rare in that it encompasses both politics and the personal. Also, it\'s quite often very funny!

  • Very good, local blog ... it is one of the best Cllr. blogs I've come across. No constituent of Andrew Burns' could complain that they don't know what he's up to, or what he thinks about local issues.

  • My husband asked me to look at this blog and rate it to make sure he wasn't going mad.

It is a good local blog. Not full of political dogma which is unusual for a politician's blog in my experience. Obviously been well thought out and obviously shows the man rather than only the politician.

I also had a look as some of the other blogs in this category and would assume that Mr. Burns' blog is in with a chance.

  • Followed a link from Edinburgh Sucks Not a bad blog at all. Don't agree with his politics but a worthwhile read now and again I would think.

  • Who'd have thunk it! Andrew Burns gets blogging and makes such a good job of it.

    Wonders will never cease
