Lichfield District Council
Lichfield District Council recently relaunched its website in late 2005, changing from a flat, rather dull looking and slow website to a dynamic, lively website with a vast array of 'Web 2.0' features such as RSS Feeds, a Planning Applications Database and more. However, one of the biggest 'wins' on the site is its accessiblity. The site is completely controlled by stylesheets, meaning that disabled users who want to apply their own styles can do so with the minimum of fuss. Government Standard Access Keys are used across the site to help people with mobility issues navigate through the site without having to use a mouse. We have made every effort to ensure this web site is easily readable using 'plain english'. In addition, we have ensured that the design of the site is not an obstacle to its usability and readability. Stuart Harrison
