UK Authors
A site that is both welcoming and professional, supplying help and encouragement to developing writers. The site is impressively designed, and not only houses a huge and varied amount of reading material, but a remarkable amount of resources available to writers. Andrea and Richard, who run the site, are at all times helpful and approachable. I cannot recommend this site highly enough. Gillian Davies
A source of invaluable information, advice and encouragement to aspiring writers/poets. John Thomson
A writers site with a difference. This site has it all from the new budding writer to the experienced author. A friendly site where everyone helps everyone. A great place to boost your confidence. Claire

For most of this century, UKAuthors has been a world leader in offering free assistance to developing authors and poets through exposure, advice and peer critique. It is non-commercial and its UKAPress publishing division offers a real and prestigious break to first-time authors by taking the financial risk on producing quality paperback novels by *unknowns* and by compiling anthologies of work by its huge UK and foreign membership. Few specialised websites are as caring and selfless. Well worth supporting. Yours. Neil Marr at BeWrite Books. Neil Marr
I am nominating UKA as I was encouraged to write due to the positive comments and support I got from both Andrea Lowne and other members. This made it possible for me to submit my work for publication and my book 'Frogs under the Wheels' is being published by UKAPress/Bluechrome. This is the best site for writers. Chris Krishnan
I nominate this site because as a writer I needed a site where I could learn, could obtain access to other writers for honest feedback and improve my writing. In addition the friendliness of like minded people is beyond compare. Michael Acton
I would like to nominatue UK Authors because as a new writer myself, and being in need of comradeship and shelter, I came upon this wonderful community of talented and eclectic writers who have become almost like a family to me. As an artist it is essential, in my opinion, to interact with others who have similar interests. On UK Authors there is a goldmine of resources and an opportunity for writers of all ilks and standards to show and have their work critiqued. There are poetry workshops and forums to discuss a miriad of topics (with very few exceptions!! The abundance of wonderful work to read is also like having your own library but better, because the work is on going. The site publishes and supports it's writers to the highest degree. Thanks to the neverending love and devotion of its creators Andrea and Richard. Thank you guys! its nice to be home at last! Roberta West (Tai) Roberta West
The foremost UK writer's site, which has gone to enormous lengths to give writer's access to an audience, firstly on the site itself where work is published and given helpful and in some cases very expert criticism and advice for improvement, and secondly in the annual 2Voices From the Web" anthologies, where the best work on the site as democratically chosen by the site's members is given book publication, and worldwide promotion and availability. In addition the site has now branched out into the world of publishing proper and started its own publishing house where the emphasis is on excellence rather than commercial profitability. This site offers aspiring writers the two things they most need, helpful feedback and access to the reading public. It is also a superb source of information, links and advice for anybody connected with the world of writing in any capacity and at any level of professionaliasm, and hosts friendly and thoughtful discussion groups covering every aspect of its members' interests. A writers' site that is completely in a class odf its own. It would be difficult to imagine a more useful resource for the creative writer of any kind. David Gardiner
UK site for writers, with constant interchange of ideas and advice, support projects and publishing. Well known to be most productive writers' site in the world. Run democratically by members. Michel Andriotti
UK-based writing site, easily the most dynamic on the web. Runs its own publishing company, publishes the work of members, raises money for public health organisations, and has an international membership who post notes, journals, novels, poems and just about every other kind of writing -about everything from the inner cities to old Kentucky to India now; from rough hewn iconoclasts to poetry-rapt beginners to well known but intelligent authors, to wickedly brilliant humorists, UKAuthors has opened up opportunities to anyone, anywhere - putting the UK slap bang at the centre of the world of writers - to meet from wherever they are to write, comment and advise each other in a landscape of dreams, fears, desires, and wonders. Filip Carro
UKAuthors is a very accessible, full featured web site, allowing authors of all skill levels to display their work for peer review and commentary. It is an excellent platform from which to launch a writing career and/or to improve your craft. Just as important, the social aspects of UKAuthors makes the writing process less isolating for writers who come from smaller communities around the world. I highly recommend it. Glenn Petrant
UKAuthors not only provides a highly accessible site where budding writers can post and comment on work, it also has a thriving forum community, discussing everything from poetry to poll tax. Andrea, the founder and maintainer of the site, is always friendly, active and helpful in the day-to-day running of it, and has published several books of poetry and prose by selected UKAuthors writers. In fact, she works harder than anyone I know to make the site and UKA Press as successful as possible. The site is instrumental in the improvement of the writing of so many individuals and in putting underground publications outinto the public arena and as so few publishers these days take a chance on poetry collections in particular, it is refreshing to see someone do just that.
