ArtisanCam is a free, interactive website targeted primarily at Key Stage 2 and 3 pupils and their teachers which aims to raise the profile of contemporary visual artists in schools. ArtisanCam features artists working live from their studios at scheduled times. Once live watching is finished, their residency is captured in a timelapse video. The website provides lots of ideas to help deliver a creative curriculum in school. Each featured artist has sections on Techniques, Influences and a Gallery gives visitors more information about their work. The Questions section features questions submitted by children. Once visitors have finished watching, pupils and teachers can participate in a classroom workshop led by an artist or a virtual activity. Currently, ArtisanCam includes sections on Sculpture, Ceramics and Screenprinting and will feature Drawing from 8 June 2005. Also in June, a new area of the site, KidZone, will launch. KidZone will offer interactive tools and activites providing lots of opportunities for children to have a go! ArtisanCam has been commissioned by Culture Online, part of the Department for Culture, Media and Sport (www.cultureonline.gov.uk) and is delivered by artists@work.org (www.artists@work.org) and Cumbria and Lancashire Education Online (www.cleo.net.uk)
