Lostock Hall has launched an innovative project to encourage pupils to eat school meals. A computer system allows pupils to order their lunch at the start of the day. Children simply key in their PIN number to a till in the kitchen and their account is credited. The children are so keen to use the technology that there has been an 80% rise in the number of meals ordered. The scheme has cut down on the school's paperwork and kitchen waste from unwanted food.
