Daily Mail editor Paul Dacre took home £1.7m last year - down more than £1m on his £2.8m remuneration package in 2010.
Dacre, who is also editor-in-chief of Daily Mail publisher Associated Newspapers, was paid a base salary of £1.69m in 2011 supplemented by a cash allowance of £10,000 and £25,000 in other benefits.
In 2010 his remuneration package came to £2.8m, including a £1m bonus.
