Poor trading has resulted in Sport Media Group, publishers of the Daily Sport and the Sunday Sport, suspending trading on the stock market.
Its bankers have been losing confidence since the downturn in sales this winter put pressure on working capital.
Reports in February stated that Sport Media Group have secured funding until March 2013. The drop in confidence is being discussed with the group's bank, RBS.
In 2009 the publisher was saved from going out of business by David Sullivan, the co-owner of West Ham.
