The i set for 30 per cent increase in circulation

The Independent's daily i paper is on-target for more sales.

The i, Alexander Lebedev's 20p daily paper, is reported to be on-target for a 30 per cent month-on-month increase in circulation when it releases its audited sales figures next week.

Circulation in January was an average of 133 472 sales per day, but is expected to be on the way to a target of around 170 000.

This news comes after a multi-million pound advertising campaign featuring Jemima Khan and Dom Joly.

The next step for Lebedev's venture is to bundle i with its £1 sister publication, the Independent, resulting in a promised paid-for circulation of around 340 000.
