Johnston Press has appointed Grant Murray as its new chief financial officer succeeding Stuart Paterson when he stands down from the company's board.

Murray, who joined Guardian Media Group as interim group chief financial officer last year, will take up his new role on 3 May, with Paterson leaving on 15 March.

Johnston Press announced in October that Paterson, who joined the board in 2001, was resigning from the company to pursue another business opportunity.
