The Independent reshuffles senior editorial team

The Independent reshuffles senior editorial team.

The senior editorial team of The Independent is being reshuffled by its editor-in-chief, Simon Kelner, the Guardian reports.

News editor Oliver Wright will be moved to the paper's newly-created post of Whitehall editor, while deputy home news editor Oly Duff will replace Wright.

Foreign editor Katherine Butler will be moved as comment editor and the current deputy foreign editor, Archie Bland, will be promoted as foreign editor.

While the current comment editor Adrian Hamilton is switching to writing a column for the paper, assistant comment editor Amol Rajan will become deputy comment editor.

Kelner is understood to have circulated the news about the changes to the staff through an internal email on Friday afternoon.

The paper reshuffled its roster of columnists in summer, when it hired Mary Ann Sieghart and Julie Burchill.
