E-newspaper distribution growing but still only represents 6.8 per cent of total circulation of pape

Electronic circulation of newspapers in the US has increased 78 per cent compared to last year, according to the Audit bureau of Circulations, the Media Week has reported.

While 303 papers delivered 1.4 million digital copies last year, this year the figure is 2.6 million electronic copies for 415 newspapers.

According to an analysis by the Newspaper Association of America, most of the demand for electronic circulation, which currently makes up 6.8 percent of overall newspaper circulation, comes from various newspapers converting their school-paid Newspapers in Education programs to electronic form.

The analysis also found that some newspapers also prefer more electronic subs to save on printing and distribution.
