Gag order on former IDF soldier relaxed

Restrictions on media reporting of the Anat Kam espionage case eased.

Twenty three-year-old Anat Kam, a former Israeli Defense Force soldier, has been charged with espionage for allegedly leaking over 2000 military documents, of which 700 were categorized as top secret, to a reporter of local daily Ha' aretz in 2007. An investigation by the Israeli government was triggered by many of Ha'aretz reports, including an article that accused the IDF of defying a Supreme Court ruling against killing wanted Palestinian militants. The restrictions were relaxed by the court on Thursday after details of the case were reported by foreign media. The recipient of the confidential documents, Uri Blau, who is reported to be in London, is also wanted for questioning by Israel.
