SLP chief reporter cautioned by police
Greg Truscott, chief reporter of the Tindle-owned South London Press (SLP), has been cautioned by the police for assaulting a councillor during a civic fundraising event.
By New Statesman Published 23 March 2010Truscott pushed the councillor Mark Bennett at the Mayor of Lambeth's annual fundraising dinner, which hosted councillors, senior council staff and mayors from other London boroughs.
Truscott admitted the offence of common assault on Bennett who is the authority's community safety cabinet member responsible for tackling crime and anti-social behaviour.
Truscott is understood to have committed the act following Bennett's posts on his Twitter page, calling the SLP the "South London Pimp" because it carried personal services ads.
