The publication, Policing for You, will describe its plans for improving the force to the public and is due to distribute about 500,000 copies starting this week. The eight-page newspaper will carry stories and information about the force. It will also be available electronically and carry no external advertising.
Nottinghamshire Police started the newspaper after surveying about 1,000 residents in the Ashfield area of the East Midlands County. They found that 90 per cent of those surveyed recognised the need for a newspaper to provide information about local policing. The paper is expected to cost around £55,000 to local tax payers.
