Microsoft UK search director Stefan Weitz, reportedly said that they focused on the British online news since there is more of an "appetite" for such content in the UK compared to other countries. He added that they believed content owners should be properly compensated for what they produce.
Currently, Google helps online news publishers through its Google News aggregator. It offers platforms such as 'Living Stories' to aid companies in presenting their news articles differently for web audiences. Through a specified format, it lets publishers with subscription-only content to specify how many news articles users can see for free via Google News before they are charged.
